Flint, Genesee County, Michigan, United States

Scott Cooley is an award-winning songwriter and independent solo recording artist based in Michigan. Originally from Flint, his sound has been described as acoustic garage rock and Americana. He is perhaps best known for his regionally-famous song "Mackinac Island," about a tourist destination in Lake Huron, "Smitten with the Mitten," a folk song about his home state, and "Coney," a humorous ode to the popular experience of going to get a Flint-style coney dog. Subject matter often includes sailing and skiing, two of his passions.

His studio recordings blend multiple tracks of his singing of lead and backing vocals with his playing of lead, rhythm & slide acoustic guitar, acoustic bass guitar, harmonica, piano, ukulele, mandolin, marimba, drums and percussion to achieve the sound of a full band. He does everything himself (songwriting, arranging, producing, engineering, mixing, mastering, publishing, label, album artwork, etc.), except his sound is occasionally augmented with awesome accordion playing by his lovely wife Lenore Cooley.

As of 2022, Scott's released catalog includes 11 full-length albums containing over 141 original songs that are available as CDs from online stores like Amazon, and also as album or individual song downloads or via streaming services like Amazon Music, Pandora, Tidal, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music.
