1. Michael John "Mike" Myers is a Canadian actor, comedian and screenwriter, best known for his film roles as the title character in the Austin Powers series, Wayne Campbell (Wayne's World), and the voice of Shrek. The tracks "This Poem Sucks", "What's New Pussycat" and "9 to 5" (among others) were recorded by Myers. As "Austin Powers", he is a member of the band Ming Tea.
2. Mike Myers have done percussion education, arranging, composing, performing, and recording for over three decades. Formal music training began at age 11 on percussion in his home-town of Lubbock, Texas. Growing up in Lubbock, Mike was exposed to: jazz, classical, high school and college band, rock 'n roll bands, orchestra, church music, musicals and percussion ensemble. Mike began teaching private percussion lessons in 1975 and built his first home studio at age 19. He obtained music degrees from Texas Tech University and The University of North Texas. As a professional musician, he has travelled all over Texas for the past 30+ years, teaching and performing.
Mike Myers also heads a percussion publications company which features his beginning drum method: Percussion Precision: The Inside Track as well as numerous percussion ensemble compositions and arrangements. As an artist, Mike Myers has released two solo recordings, Sonic Frontiers (1992) and Myriad (1996), both recorded in his home studio. Mike has also recorded six compact discs for Drop6 Percussion Publications and has produced and performed on other CDs, including a 2004 release for Jamey Abersold's play-along series featuring the music of Dan Haerle. His magazine articles have appeared in Modern Drummer, Rhythm, Southwestern Musician, and Goldmine.
Today, Mike spends most of his time in his studio, surrounded by computer and digital recording technology, as well as a assortment of percussion instruments. He also conducts clinics, teaches lessons, judges at music contests and plays all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
