Massacra was a French death/thrash metal band formed in 1986 in Paris. The band gained recognition internationally but received limited attention from the French metal press and promoters during its active years. In 1995, after a long-standing rivalry with Loudblast, a leading French death/thrash metal band at the time, both bands embarked on a joint tour across France. Massacra disbanded following the death of guitarist Fred Duval, who passed away from skin cancer on 6 June 1997.
In 1996, Jean-Marc Tristani and Fred Duval released an industrial/thrash metal album under the name Zero Tolerance. Tristani later worked as the French representative for Century Media.
