In 2000 Studio Brussel, Belgium’s biggest alternative radio, started with the now legendary and acclaimed show DUYSTER. Every Sunday (except in July and August, when numerous music festivals are followed and aired instead) from 10pm ‘till midnight the finest in slowcore, indietronics, kraut- & postrock, new folk and singer-songwriter collides in 2 hours of unrestrained melancholy and deafening sweetness held together by the beautiful and sincere voice of Ayco Duyster and the exquisite musical taste of Eppo Janssen.
To celebrate the show’s 5th anniversary Studio Brussel and Play It Again Sam joined hands for a deluxe 2 cd set containing a collection of Duyster classics and the highlights of the intimite acoustic Duyster sessions.
As the reactions on this first compilation exceeded everyone’s expectations and as Aycos & Eppos Classics wishlist and the amount of stunning Duyster Sessions kept on growing, a follow up was bound to come. On June 6th duyster II has been released. A third compilation is currently in the making.
Hopefully this will be the start of a unique collection of compilations containing a unique collection of songs.
