Cassiane Santana Santos Manhães Guimarães (born January 27, 1973, in Nova Iguaçu, Brazil) is a Brazilian singer, entrepreneur, pastor, and songwriter of contemporary Christian music.
A record-breaking artist, Cassiane gained national prominence at a young age. With the album Sem Palavras, she became one of the most notable performers in the evangelical music scene. Throughout the 2000s, albums like Com Muito Louvor and Recompensa earned multiple gold and triple platinum certifications. She is known for hits such as “Com Muito Louvor,” “Imagine,” and “Hino da Vitória.”
Cassiane’s music career began early. In 1981, at just 8 years old, she released her first album, Cristo É a Força. In 1983, she followed with Dou Glória a Deus and later released Rosa de Saron (1985), Desafio (1987), and União (1990). She also collaborated with Andrea Fontes on a 1986 LP, performing all the songs on Side A.
In 1992, she independently released the album Atualidades, which was later distributed by MK Music. In 1993, Cassiane signed with the label and released Força Imensa, featuring the hit “Igreja Pequena,” along with songs like “Entrega.”
Her definitive entry into the mainstream occurred in 1996 with the album Sem Palavras, which includes tracks like “Imagine,” “Valeu a Pena,” and “Vencedor Sempre Serei.” This was her first album to surpass 100,000 sales, earning a gold certification. In 1997, she released a VHS version of Sem Palavras, followed by a DVD in 2010.
In 1998, Cassiane released Para Sempre, featuring songs like “Vou Seguir,” “Onde Jesus Mora,” and “Lugar de Glória.” Like its predecessor, the album achieved gold status.
Her albums Com Muito Louvor (1999) and Recompensa (2001) further solidified her position in the industry, thanks to the musical arrangements by producer Jairinho Manhães. In 2000, she released a DVD version of Com Muito Louvor, building on the success of the CD.
In 2003, Cassiane released A Cura, with a unique production style crafted by her husband. The album featured popular tracks like “Tremendo e Santo,” “Não Negue a Jesus,” and “Sinfonia de Louvor.” In 2005, Sementes da Fé included contributions from musicians like Emerson Pinheiro and Bene Maldonado and introduced hits like “Vai Abalar, Vai Sacudir.” On November 23 of that year, Cassiane recorded the DVD 25 Anos de Muito Louvor at the Cathedral of the Assemblies of God in Santa Cruz, celebrating 25 years of her career with an audience of 8,000 people. She also won the Troféu Talento award for Best Duo with Jairinho for the album Você e Eu (2005) and for Best Pentecostal Album in 2007.
In 2007, Cassiane released Faça Diferença through her label Reuel Music, featuring the hit “Todo Poderoso.” However, due to a legal dispute with MK Music, the album was temporarily banned from distribution but was later released by Sony Music in 2010 and reissued by MK Music in 2015.
Inspired by the TV show Idols, Cassiane launched a talent program called Levitas, which premiered in May 2009 on Rede CNT.
On July 19, 2010, she signed with Sony Music and released the album Viva. In 2011, she followed with Ao Som dos Louvores, and in 2012 recorded the CD and DVD Um Espetáculo de Adoração. Cassiane left Sony in October 2013.
In 2014, she partnered with Onimusic to distribute the album Somos 1, a collaboration with Jairinho. On September 15, 2015, Cassiane returned to MK Music, releasing Harpa Vol. 2 and Eternamente that November.
In 2017, she took part in the Grandes Encontros MK 30 Anos collection, re-recording iconic songs with Léa Mendonça, Bruna Karla, and Anderson Freire, including “Imagine” (from Sem Palavras), “Com Muito Louvor”, and “Identidade”.
Although her 2020 EP A Voz received mixed reviews, Cassiane was still nominated for Best Singer at the Troféu Gerando Salvação awards.
