“me & ur ghost” is blackbear’s second single succeeding his sixth studio album "everything means nothing", and directly follows the commercial success of “hot girl bummer,” which peaked at #11 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
blackbear posted a snippet of the track’s chorus and another snippet of the second verse on his Instagram story in September 2019. He confirmed the release month in a brief radio interview at the end of his “dead 2 the world tour,” and later announced the precise date via his Instagram story. The music video premiered at 12 PM EST on release day.
