Ultramarine sound so homespun & bucolic they should be using steam & wind powered electronics. The sound the hit upon is both conservative (folk) & modern (Techno/Electronica) that's what makes then so original, so much so, no body seems to have been influenced by them...

Ultramarine is also the name of a wonderful Jazz-Fusion band which was active in the 90's. The albums "Dé" and "E Si Mala" are from this band. I will be happy when Last FM will be able to manage homonyms...

Every Man , Every Woman.... was such an important record for me too. It opened the door but in retrospect I never found anything quite like the warmth , excitement and pure enjoyment I got from that one LP anywhere else.

Note that this e si mala album is from another group, though it sounds like it could fit - quirked a bit - in United Kingdoms :)
