A personal and self-developing musical journey. That´s what you could say to describe the music made by TDW. TDW is short spelled for Tom de Wit who is the main composer and driving force behind the music.
“Every step I take on this journey has given me new opportunities to grow and expand my horizons. I don’t expect to be the best at anything at all, I just want to learn to be the best I can be for myself.”
From the early TDW beginnings of 2003’s First Draft to the concept record The Haunts in 2008, the music has always followed a path of natural evolution, going through musical styles and with a vibe of its own. With reviewers mentioning influences such as Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Symphony X, Riverside, Marillion, Pain of Salvation, Fates Warning and Green Carnation it won’t be a surprise to know that the TDW music stands on progressive ground, yet at the same time next to naming the afore mentioned influences, those reviewers also say that TDW has an identity of its own which should not be understated.
“I readily admit that I do all of this for myself. I don’t expect any real fame or fortune. If it comes my way I’ll be the first to welcome it. But if it doesn’t, I’ll still have the music that made and still makes my life a lot more bearable.”
