Bebop quintet, active during the years 1955-1957. Consisted of Miles Davis, saxophonist John Coltrane, bassist Paul Chambers, drummer Philly Joe Jones and pianist Red Garland. This group also dabbled a few years more, but eventually faded as Miles reformed the group. The product was the new Miles Davis Quintet, commonly known as Miles’s “Second Great Quintet”. This group included all new members: saxophonist Wayne Shorter, bassist Ron Carter, drummer Tony Williams, and pianist Herbie Hancock. The Second Great Quintet disbanded around early 1968.

I probably have some tracks by the MD Quintet down as regular Miles Davis. I know I have Relaxin' and Cookin' on here somewhere.
