Biography

Malcolm X (born Malcolm Little; May 19, 1925 – February 21, 1965), also known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, was a Black Muslim Minister and National Spokesman for the Nation of Islam. He was also founder of the Muslim Mosque, Inc. and the Organization of Afro-American Unity.

During his life, Malcolm went from being a drug dealer and burglar to one of the most prominent black nationalist leaders in the United States; he was considered by some as a martyr of Islam and a champion of equality. As a militant leader, Malcolm X advocated black pride, economic self-reliance, and identity politics. He ultimately rose to become a world-renowned African American/Pan-Africanist and human rights activist.

During a pilgrimage to Mecca in 1964, Malcolm became a Sunni Muslim. Less than a year later he was assassinated in Washington Heights on the first day of National Brotherhood Week.

MLK isn't just overrated, he's also a sell-out, listen or read Malcom's speech "Message to the Grass Roots" for Detroit in 1963.

Depends on how you define racism. Some believe those marginalized on a society-wide basis cannot exercise racism because the ability to do so comes from power and privilege they don’t have.

A powerful, angry mind, and also an excellent example of a man transformed over time. Really worth listening to these.

Malcom X was racist, or more accurately afro-centrist, but repented after visiting Mecca. Non-the less he does talk a lot about class and race issues in American society. To just label him as a general racist would be to ignore some interesting ideas he discusses.

MALCOLM X, DID ANYONE WITHIN THIS FORUM MEET MALCOLM X! WHEN HE FOUND OUT THAT ISLAM AS TAUGHT BY ELIJAH MUHAMMAD WAS INCORRECT. AFTER HE HAD MADE HIS PILGRIMAGE TO MECCA AND LEARNED OF THE TRUE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM - MALCOLM X WAS MAN ENOUGH TO SAY THAT HE WAS WRONG TO SEE ALL MEMBERS OF THE CAUCASIAN RACE IN ONE LIGHT AND HE ASKED FORGIVENESS! THE IRAQ WAR IS A TOTALLY ILEGAL WAR - I BELIEVE THAT THE ADHD PRESIDENT WE HAD NAMED GEORGE BUSH HAS NEVER ASKED FOR ANY FORGIVENESS NOR ANY OTHER CAUCASIAN-AMERICAN FOR THE ROTTEN THINGS THEY STILL DO! WHAT HAS CHANGED? WE HAVE AN AFRICAN- AMERICAN PRESIDENT THAT THE REPUBLICANS ARE GOING TO MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING HE DOES WILL EVER GET PASSED! YOU SAY THAT "HE IS MIXED", WELL ALL AFRICAN-AMERICANS ARE! WE GOT LIGHT SKINNED AND STRAIGHT HAIR BY JUST BEING HERE! O.K. BELIEVE THAT IF YOU LIKE!

"Malcolm X taught that black people were the original people of the world, and that white people were a race of devils who were created by an evil scientist named Yakub. The Nation of Islam believed that black people were superior to white people, and that the demise of the white race was imminent." <333
