Mala Strana is a NYC based electronic-punk quintet influenced by Science Fiction and Cyber-Punk aesthetics. Their first EP, “HighTech/LowLife”, is a an attempt at exploring these concepts through a combination of controlled guitar feedback and the grit of vintage synthesizers. They have since moved on to a more dynamically schizophrenic sound where the mantra is: “If a section could sound good repeated endlessly, play it once”. The new material still revels in an apparent obsession with old-school sci-fi, but executes its intentions as an abstract form of contextual integration; where in the musical material IS the concept, and not so much the implications of song titles such as “Burning Chrome” or “Apollo’s Song”.

As of the summer of ‘10, the band is recording a follow-up to “HighTech/LowLife” and performing in and around Brooklyn, NY. On July 20th 2010, Mala Strana released a single entitled “Burning Chrome”.
