Jermaine Lamarr Cole (born January 28, 1985 in Frankfurt, Germany), better known simply as J. Cole, is an American rapper and producer from Fayetteville, North Carolina. He is best known for being the first artist to be signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation after Jay heard his single Lights Please. He released his debut mixtape The Come Up in 2007 and followed this up with 2009’s The Warm Up and 2010’s Friday Night Lights. Songfacts reports that he dropped his first official single, Work Out on June 15, 2011, the two-year anniversary of The Warm Up. He released his highly anticipated debut album “Cole World: The Sideline Story” on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 with approximately 218,000 units sold.

Cole has appeared on the cover of The Source and Beyond Race magazines, as well as being featured as one of XXL’s 2010 Freshmen. Cole appeared on Jay-Z’s 2009 album The Blueprint 3, on the track A Star is Born, and is also featured on labelmate Wale’s debut album, Attention Deficit. Most recently, he was touring with Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, and Trey Songz on The Blueprint 3 tour. In January 2010, along with Jay Electronica and Mos Def, he appeared on the first single from the new Reflection Eternal album, Just Begun.

The rap world is at a crossroads.

oh yeah and Warm Up is great did anyone else catch that he used the outfarting thing in Last Call too? why he brought it back is a mystery, what a shitty line

    Friday morning

Rock has musicality and laid back flow big whoop so do so many others but they dont have his beats. I love Rock but he is completely left field with his writing- he could go on about the same shit in each song for hours and its listenable but its the same shit. Also fuck that fake ass kid Drake - ya know I try to like him but he just makes his RL self unlikeable. Its not even like when he says something stupid and I'm like hes not takin himself serious (like glover going nerdcore n sappy) but no- aubs is a fuck. His Complex interview was going smooth till dude literally says that he brought the hoods together where hes from.. who the fuck is he trying to play yo? Two questions back he says he lived in a upper jewish neighborhood and went to school with kids that had private jets and hes trying to "debunk" for once the doubt about the legitimacy of his "I know the streets" image or some stupid shit through this- and instead of just admitting his background hes just a blatant liar ffs

that being said, The Warm Up is great. And I liked his one verse on that recent remix.

@lhero: plus he probably knows how to actually ride over beats and have a charisma without screaming more than most anyone in the game, not to mention great ear for audio aesthetics (like how to put what where and make what stand out to make it sound especially great) . Drake catches bodies, J. Cole outfarts ppl.
