Glen Hansard is the vocalist and guitarist for Irish rock group The Frames. In 2006, he released his first solo album, The Swell Season, in collaboration with Czech singer and multi-instrumentalist Markéta Irglová, and two other friends. Hansard and Markéta starred in the movie Once which won the World Cinema Audience Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. The film prominently features a number of songs from the Swell Season.
