Georgs Pelēcis is a Latvian composer and musicologist, born in Riga in 1947. He graduated from Aram Khachaturjan’s composition class of the P.I.Tschaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow in 1970, was ingaged in post graduate research until 1977, received the degree of doctor of art in 1981 and doctor habil. art. in 1990. His “A Study Of Palestrina Style” is marked by the International Palestrina Center in Rome (1993).
