Homeboy (4:43)
From Chief and 7 other releases
This may sound more like a title of a hip hop track, but American Country music singer and songwriter Eric Church loved the idea of naming a Country cut after the urban slang term for a male friend. According to the Homeboy Songfacts, it was Church’s sports-coaching co-writer who came up with the title and the North Carolina native strung a story round it about a small-town homeboy who severs ties with his square family.

Eric Church – Homeboy
Send ‘Homeboy’ Ringtone to Cell
You were too bad for a little square town
With your hip hop hat and your pants on the ground
Heard you cussed out mama, pushed daddy around
You tore off in his car
