Most people tend to compare his sounds with artists such as DJ Cam, DJ Spooky, DJ Krush and Funki Porcini. Stylistically his music can be classified as Instrumental Hip Hop, Electronic, Acid Jazz, Downtempo and Trip Hop.
Born to a Baptist piano player and struggling photographer, Sid began tinkering with sound fx in grade school and began making beats. Forged in the age of 1st generation Hip Hop, he continued to create music and DJ parties in grade school and performed at local talent shows through out Columbus, Ohio.
During the early and mid 90s, DJ SID attended Ohio University and founded the first mix show on 1340 WOUB AM for the urban contemporary segment. While majoring in audio production, he dee jayed local parties and events on Ohio University’s campus.
After a short absence from music DJ SID released his first solo album, Liquid Relaxaton, in 2005 through CD Baby. Liquid Relaxation was chosen as an Editor’s Pick in 2005 at CdBaby. Liquid Relaxation also received radio play at college stations such as CJAM and KTUH. In 2006 the album Jazzydiscotek was released and yielded stand out tracks such as Your Eyez and The Way I Love You. ButtaFly Tunez and Twilight Zizone were released in 2007. Twilight Zizone was chosen as an editors pick in the House Music category at Cd Baby and ButtaFly Tunez received positive press in Groundlift, REAX and LINK magazines.
DJ SID currently resides in Columbus, OH and is one half of the group PIXSID collaborating with artist Pixieguts.
