Dáithí Sproule (born in Derry, Northern Ireland, on 23 May 1950) is a guitarist and singer of traditional Irish music. He is the grandson of Irish politician Frank Carney and uncle of singer
Claire Sproule. He co-formed the band
Skara Brae in 1970 and has been a member of the band
Altan since 1992. He has collaborated with many artists, including recording as
Dáithí Sproule & Laura MacKenzie. As a teenager he had met the Ó Domhnaill family during trips to the Gaeltacht area of Rann na Feirste in Co. Donegal, and while in Dublin in 1970 they formed the band
