Biography
The ambient sounds of reality and natural atmospheres are the specialty of professional recording artist Clinton LeFort.
LeFort (who also records under the moniker of Purple Moose) hails from Lake Arthur, LA where he learned the Cajun Zydeco bands Honky-Tonk Country songs of the bayou. “I was lucky to work as a kid next door to a Honky-Tonk joint where new music was being performed every Saturday,” he says.
He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and earned his Masters in music in 1990 before making the leap across the country to study at University of California Los Angeles in 1993 and University of Southern California in 1994. He had the privilege of studying with music masters James Horner, James Newton Howard, Randy Newman and took the first steps of his career as an assistant to Producer Orion Crawford.
LeFort relocated to Union, MO in 2001 where he continues to live and work to this day. Since then, he has recorded and released a slew of albums as Purple Moose. His work, as featured in Music For Films Vol. 1, Sense World and Intelligible World and New Life, run the gamut of styles including Classical, Baroque, Film, Contemporary Christian, Minimalist, Ambient and Electronica.
“I carry forward an eclectic tradition of musical genres not just any single one,” he says. “Music is forever expanding and this is what it will always do. It speaks to the hearts of the present, while growing into the future.”
