Welcome to Burlesque (2:45)
From Burlesque Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and 2 other releases
One of two songs performed by Cher for the film Burlesque. It serves as an introduction to the club (named Burlesque) and the owner, Tess (Cher) as she lists the names and talents of the performers in the main floorshow. It is mentioned in later dialogue that Tess is the only live vocalist in the club until Christina Aguilera’s Ali sings there; it is the only song that Tess sings live for an audience.
It was written by Charlie Midnight, John Patrick Shanley, Matthew Gerrard (also producer), and Steve Lindsey (also producer) and appears on the original motion picture soundtrack to Burlesque. There was no single release for the song.
The sequence from the film was used as part of a video montage during parts of Cher’s tour in Las Vegas, which coincided with the film’s 2010 release.
