Biography

Washington D.C. (1989 – present)

Chemlab is a and (or “”) band formed in Washington D.C. in 1989 by Dylan Thomas More and Jared Louche with the help of short-time member Joe Frank. Influenced by the pioneers of the industrial genre, such as Throbbing Gristle, Chemlab brought a rough, experimental approach to their music. Moving to New York City in 1990 and dubbing their drug-influenced sounds ‘Angel-Dustrial’, they built up a strong fanbase by touring with such artists as White Zombie, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, Gwar, 16volt and Sister Machine Gun. They released only two albums and two maxi-eps as the original duo. Their first album, “Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar”, recorded at famed Chicago Trax studio, is considered to be one of the top ten most influential cult Industrial records. Jared and Dylan recorded and toured with many seminally important musicians such William Tucker (Ministry, etc), Geno Lenardo (Filter etc), Charles Levi (My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, etc) and Krayge Tyler (Crazytown, etc).

Chemlab broke up in 1997, and reformed in 2004 with Jared as the only original member. Working with the members of Acumen Nation, old touring guitarist Greg Lucas and Julian Beeston (Nitzer Ebb, etc), he recorded and released an album entitled “Oxidizer”. Recently, after a massive seven year hiatus from the stage, Jared and a backing band comprised of the members of Electro-Industrial group Mindless Faith has taken Chemlab back on the road again.

That band you put off listening to for ages because you have a tonne of other things on your 'list of bands to explore' first, then you finally get around to listening to them and you think, WHY HAS IT TAKEN ME SO LONG TO DISCOVER THIS? Awesome, awesome stuff.

Extreme metal?? HAHAHAH! ok I sure. You're probably one of those types that thinks EVERY song your fav band makes are all glorious. Electric Molecular is a good song, but IMO one of the weak ones off that album.

What the fuck is wrong with Electric Molecular? Strong beat, good riffs, and great vocals harmonies. If you want brutality, listen to extreme metal.

@vx_GASMAN: Close but no cigar. Here's the story behind it(quoted from the old waste.org chemlab page): "Chemlab isn't the only party to have used the slogan as promotional material. When a poet friend of Jared's released a book of his latest work in DC, he had Jared and several buddies stand around at the release party wearing the shirt. The poet, whose name was Art (now you see it coming, don't you), had a shirt on that said: FUCK ME I'M ART."

andeveryonedied: I remember Manson saying he wish he'd thought of "Fuck art let's kill" too. I'm kinda glad he didn't. Also, I heard a story about this guy named Arthur who turned up to a Chemlab show once, wearing a shirt which said "I'm Art, fuck me". If it's true then he's a hero in Chemlab folklore.
