Born Germaine Williams in 1974 in Jamaica, Canibus moved to the United States with his mother at a young age. Because his mother’s career required constant relocation, the family moved frequently and the soon-to-be rapper found solace within himself. His rhetorical abilities blossomed later, once hip-hop became the guiding force in his life. He began rhyming and in the mid-’90s joined a group called T.H.E.M. (The Heralds of Extreme Metaphors.)

This group consisted also of his partner Webb. Following a fallout with his partner, Canibus pursued a solo career and began infiltrating the mix-tape circuit. By 1997, he had approached the brink of the major-label rap game, guesting regularly on high-profile releases: He contributed to “Uni-4-orm,” an inclusion on the Rhyme & Reason soundtrack also featuring Heltah Skeltah and Rass Kass; “Love, Peace & Nappiness,” an inclusion on the Lost Boyz’s Love, Peace & Nappiness also featuring Redman and A+; “Making a Name for Ourselves,” an inclusion on Common’s One Day It’ll All Make Sense; the non-album remix of Wyclef Jean’s “Gone Till November.”

And most famously, “4, 3, 2, 1,” an inclusion on LL Cool J’s Phenomenon also featuring Redman, DMX, and Method Man.

Of the several guest appearances, “4, 3, 2, 1” certainly meant the most, as it brought together many of New York’s preeminent hardcore rappers and thus ushered Canibus into that same elite class. At the same time, however, Canibus lashed out shortly afterward with the Mike Tyson-featuring “Second Round K.

Oh and also, I'm assuming most Bis fans will be Slaughterhouse fans too but they recently gave a video interview where they were all asked if they could make up another supergroup out of any other 4 artists in hip-hop, dead or alive and I'm pretty sure every single one of them picked Eminem and Crooked I even picked Lil' Wayne, you need to get out of this ignorant pseudo-underground mentality that anyone who rates mainstream artists doesn't know what they're talking about because it makes you look like fucking morons, for real.

Seriously, if you ever meet one of your favourite rappers ask them what they think about Eminem's lyrical talent. Pretty much every credible MC in the game acknowledges his skill which makes it even more hilarious when all these clueless wannabe heads start ragging on him. Youtube for "Rakim Speaks on Eminem" and see him talking about Em, regardless of what you think about my opinion, Rakim's opinion far outweighs all of our opinions put together, period. This retard interviewer probably encompasses everything that's wrong with the underground hip-hop community, some of you would get along well with him. In short - Stop posing, it's painfully obvious who knows what he's talking about and who doesn't. I'm being overly factitious to get my point across and Ellzey3 is probably talking the most sense out of any of us but if you're seriously dismissing Eminem's talent you're completely clueless and have no business discussing hip-hop. Ever.

No, only people who've been listening to hip-hop for about 3 minutes and want to look like they know what they're talking about would consider Canibus a better rapper than Eminem, the same sort of people who think Canibus doesn't sell because he's too intelligent or consider Vinnie Paz to be an amazing MC. When Em was at his peak (Which was on SSLP, the idea that Infinite was his peak is another bullshit fake hiphop head opinion that people just throw around for the sake of it). I've been a Canibus fan for a long time and I'd put money on me listening to him a long time before any of the people trying to dismiss what I said did. Canibus is a great MC but in terms of a complete package Eminem completely outshines him. If you think this is some commercial orientated opinion you're wrong and you really need to speak to more than just a bunch of nerds about hip-hop.

Oh please stop the arguments. Eminem lyrically is different from Canibus. They aren't directly comparable. Eminem has a flow something Canibus is weak in. Another thing Eminem focuses on multi's more than Canibus does. Canibus on the other hand is more metaphorical and does more punchlines. In certain areas Canibus is the better Emcee in other Areas it goes to Eminem. Honestly after you reach a certain point Emceeing becomes less objective and based more on what you like to hear. So if you're a Canibus fan you're going to think Canibus is better, if you're an Eminem Fan you're going to think Eminem is better. Now don't get me wrong some rappers are simply better than others. Eminem is obviously a better rapper than Lil Wayne but that doesn't reflect another realm of Emceeing and that's music. Lil Wayne can get away with being weak lyrically because of the music he makes. In the musical realm lyrics don't really mater it's who appeals more.

"Eminem at his best >>>>> Canibus, stop cockhugging underground rappers for the sake of it"...No.Em was at his best on the album infinite when he had some of the best mulit's ever.If you compare Em's infinite flow to Canibus's Rip The Jacker flow it is evident Canibus is a much better rapper than Em.

I don't have super Eminem knowledge, but it would seem that most of the people he raps with aren't very talented. This makes him look better in comparison.

Canibus is good, but Em could easily wreck him. If he quits joking around like he did on Relapse that is,

Eminem is not a joke. Relapse had some great songs. I'd say their on similar levels lyrically, but Canibus touches many more subject matter than Eminem does, and the scope of some of his rhymes are just so colossal Eminem cannot compete. They're both definitely some of the most lyrical in the game ever.
