Biography

4th Alternative is Rob “Bombardier” Davies. A classically trained pianist who like many musicians searched for expression outside the accepted norms. This led to experiments in music making using radio noise, synthesisers, and whatever instruments came to hand. Such experiments led to opuses such as Sunburst and Submerged composed when in his mid-20’s. Involved in various musical activities and collaborations since then, he has now returned to improvised reflective music with ‘edge’.

4th Alternative has now released the first commercial album - “Dunes”. Initially a digital only release from 4thalternative.bandcamp.com on 10th November 2011.

Rob: The new album is a great listen--and Thomas Mathie (Headphonaught)'s artwork is very nice indeed. I'm glad you've released these new songs for our listening enjoyment.

My thanks to Shaun at EMP for promoting 4th Alternative on his label. As a thank you to those who have enjoyed my music and have been waiting patiently for more, I have decided to make 'Phade' available for free download. Although not released on a label, I donate it to the Creative Commons community. Please let me know if you enjoy it :)

I hope the New Year finds you well. "New Dawn" still remains one of my favorite tracks. I read your weblog post about not feeling inspired to create recently, which is entirely understandable. I'll wish you a 2009 full of creative flow, whether in music or in the rest of life.
