Shoji Meguro (目黒将司 Meguro Shōji, born 4 June 1971 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese video game music composer who joined Atlus in 1996 and has composed music for several of their games, mainly those in the Megami Tensei series. Although his works feature a trademark rock style, Meguro experiments with different musical genres, such as orchestral, electronica, jazz, rap, RnB and hip hop from soundtrack to soundtrack.

  • Fucking good songs
  • a literal god
  • father my children
  • persona games are interactive shoji meguro albums
  • also agree it's amazing how his range is so large but so identifiable. One thing is that, and this is how I found myself checking out his music, he's strongly inspired by jazz fusion bands like T-Square. It can be heard even in a lot of tracks you wouldn't expect.. But in fact there are several other composers (Atsushi, Tsuchiya, so on) who are all basically just as excellent. Arena's soundtrack is ridiculously good. I'd like to see more hints of DDS or Nocturne mixing in with the more recent wave of P3 and P4 styles which are quite distinct in themselves.
  • I figured these would be merged but upon checking, that's not the case. I'll continue to scrobble Shoji Meguro as long as I don't forget as it has nearly all of my plays but it really should be corrected to this.
  • I get the feeling that he's slowly retiring and grooming Atsushi Kitajoh as his successor.
  • He's probably been relegated to the Persona series since it's Atlus's cash cow.
  • Most probably Tsuchiya isn't in charge of the soundtrack and will make a song here and there. And truth be told, I'm not a great fan of his work, so I'm not sure I'll like this soundtrack.
