Mamoru Samuragoch or Samuragôchi (佐村河内守, Samuragoch Mamoru) is a Japanese composer for film, television and most notably video games. He was born in 1963 in Hiroshima and according to his mother, began creating his first compositions for marimba at age 5. He himself remembers composing his own music at age 10. As a child Samuragoch studied piano, but he learned to compose on his own. When Samuragoch was 24, he was diagnosed with a severe hearing disability and is almost completely deaf today.
