Two of Oxford’s finest young bands. Jonquil’s experimental pop has been perfected on recent album ’Lions’, their second, a record they’ll do mighty well to better (’Beautiful weirdness’ Metro ’The times i’ve seen Jonquil play live, its pretty special to watch’ Yannis Philippakis (Foals)). Also in preparation for their debut album proper ’Animals’, (’What does matter is that This Town Needs Guns are one of the best bands this fine city (Oxford) currently has to offer.’ Drowned In Sound) TTNG are touring constantly. A slightly tweaked line-up now including new bassist Jamie Cooper, they trade in epic pop songs with guitar lines that remind me of Mike Kinsella(American Football), creating a beautiful swell.
