Anika worked beats as a political journalist and music promoter before starting to work beats of a different kind when a Bristol friend suggested she audition for a band of kindred spirits searching for a new vocalist. Quite the scoop, since that band turned out to be none other than Geoff Barrow’s Beak>. Her Nico-esque deep voice sits nicely atop the velvety dub foundation created by the band, and her emotionally detached delivery of politically-charged subject matter perfectly suits the project’s post-punk spirit.
