THE JOY FORMIDABLE:
The beginnings of TJF began several years ago, when Ritzy and Rhydian met at school in their hometown of Mold, North Wales. Both opinionated and madly into music, an instant respect was formed. However, in an otherwise provincial, sleepy setting, itchy feet and a fleeing were inevitable; Ritzy to Washington DC and Rhydian to Manchester, where they enjoyed separate but strangely parallel journeys as singer songwriters. It was a single phone call that reunited them, this time they would write and record together, with Matt Thomas joining them on drums.
The Joy Formidable have thrived on the live front supporting the likes of Editors, Passion Pit and Paul McCartney. Their soundscape layers spiked by the nakedness of a 3-piece; gargantuan, clamorous bass and guitars come in waves, Ritzy seething and cooing in equal measure.
After the universal fanfare that accompanied the release of 2009’s mini-album, ‘A Balloon called Moaning’; The Joy Formidable returned this year with their debut album proper, ‘The Big Roar’ on a wave of critical acclaim, propelling the album into a Top 40 placing in the process.

AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR:
Other bands talk about it, And So I Watch You From Afar do it. Hundreds of gigs all over Europe. Appearances at Lowlands, Sonisphere and Pukkelpop festival. Extensive tours encompassing over 17 countries in Europe as well as the US. This is a band that means business. Their hometown Belfast shows are legendary; from the 1,000 capacity headline Christmas homecoming gig in the Ulster Hall, right down to a small secret basement party which was shut down by the police for being too insane.
Everything about ASIWYFA is gargantuan. Their critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut album released in 2009 is exhibit A. From the the iron-clad riffs to the pummeling crash of the cymbals to the palpable positivity of the music, it’s everything great rock (never mind just instrumental rock) music should be.
Showered with critical acclaim from NME, Kerrang, Vice and The Quietus and with a new album on the way, ASIWYFA are a serious force to be reckoned with.

CREATURES OF LOVE:
London three piece Creatures of Love make dark, edgy pop music laced with an ambience of whispered darkness and near operatic female vocals. Listen to their songs and you’ll find mysterious textural sounds and a sense of haunting warlike vastness – a British cousin of Zola Jesus perhaps? They occupy the same claustrophobic and cinematic musical space. Formed in Kentish Town, London in 2009 the group consist of Bonita Mckinney, Chris Willsher and Ben Gardner. It wouldn’t surprise us if when they aren’t making their doomy transcendent music they are practicing witchcraft somewhere – maybe conjuring another seismic tune of spellbound perfection.
