Iain Morrison Live at The Real Mary King's Close

The Real Mary King's Close will come alive with the sound of Scottish folk for the first time in four centuries on Tuesday September 7th 2010.

Singer-songwriter Iain Morrison will be playing a small intimate gig in the historic underground passageways of Mary King's Close in aid of Oxjam, a month long national music festival organised by people who know and love their local music scene, with all proceeds going to Oxfam UK.

Stornaway-born Iain, whose influences include pop, rock, Gaelic songwriting and traditional piping, is excited, about playing one of Edinburgh's most unusual venues. He will be joined by poet and storyteller Daibhidh Martin, also from the Outer Hebrides, to present their collaborative project 'The Weather Journals'.

The evening has been organised by Graham Mackay, who works at The Real Mary King's Close as part of the Retail and Admissions team. Graham said 'This is a great opportunity to welcome Iain to the Close and raise money for a fantastic cause. We have been selling Iain's CD's for many years now, so it's brilliant that he has agreed to play this one-off gig in our unique location"
