吉他兼歌手Emmylou Harris于1947年出生于美国阿拉巴马州，60年代晚期以民谣歌手身份走唱于 华盛顿特区，接着与乡村摇滚歌手Gram Parsons（曾待过Byrds与Flying Burrito Brothers合唱团）一起巡回直到1973年Parsons去世为止。1975年之后Emmylou Harris成立自己的伴奏乐团，开始在主 流唱片公司发行个人专辑，二十多年来作品数量已超过20张，1975-81年间的连续8张专辑都被宣布为金唱片。 Emmylou Harris天生一副唱乡村音乐的绝美嗓音，对情感有着极佳的感受与控制。Emmylou Harris对唱时颤抖高亢微浓的鼻音，兼具高雅及草根性,极俱特色，堪称一绝，她的歌声一出就好像整首歌曲突然亮了起来。Emmylou Harris有个称号“新传统乐派教母”，70年代末80年代初，乐坛流行化相当严重，但她坚持的传统乡村Bluegrass风格，为往后的新传统乐派开启了道路。 Emmylou Harris对音乐的贡献，使其获得第44届葛莱美乡村歌后以及世纪荣耀成就奖。
