1992年10月,梶浦由记作为乐队See-Saw的键盘手而在FUNHOUSE出道。这个由她的高中好友西冈由记子担当贝司手,石川千亚纪主唱的三人组合,在学生时代他们便在一起表演、学习和创作时结下了交情和默契。94年西冈由纪子退出之前,梶浦由记的主要精力还是放在乐队活动上。次年,她开始为电影、CM作曲,工作范围很快扩大到动化、游戏和音乐剧. 梶浦由记因成名后,人们才意识到某些熟悉动人的音乐是她的作品,比如音乐专集中表达出那种无法抑制的思恋的钢琴曲 接近十年在音乐圈内的经验和技巧成长奠定了2001年梶浦由记负责的音乐的成功。动化监督真下耕一似乎并不介意配乐超越画面剧情的地位,给予梶浦由记极大的发挥余地,于是精致的音乐比低成本制作粗糙的动画更出风头。加上音乐配合故事本身的异域风情。美女杀手、黑手党、极端的世界观这些一般动画题材中少有的元素,战线出独树一帜的风格。梶浦由记是摆弄键盘器出身,大学里接触轻音乐较多,自然擅长用电子乐器制造不同的音响效。除了在之前的音乐经历中的锻炼学习,她的阅读爱好也是他揣摩意大利、拉丁民族音乐的途径。 音乐风格为The world和New age
