坂本龙一 Ryuichi Sakamoto出生于1952年东京。 1963年，11岁的他对于无论是流行的BEATLES还是古典的BEETHOVEN都很感兴趣。开始从师于东京国立美术音乐大学的Matsumoto教授学习作曲。8年后，进去该大学并最终获得作曲专业硕士学位。1977年，他以作曲家的身份开始工作，同时和日本最顶级的摇滚、爵士、古典音乐家合作。不久之后，他成为著名的制作人。同时他也是名演员和模特（他年轻时还做过某品牌时装代言人）。 他曾经和歌手David Bowie, David Byrne, David Sylvian, Iggy Pop, Youssou N´dour, Robbie Robertson, Caetano Veloso,以及作家 William Burroughs and William Gibson合作过。 他的作曲风格，就像他自己所说："This global view to the different cultures is just part of my nature.
