The Last Word: Damon Albarn

Damon Albarn gives the last word on the making of his music video; specifically "Everyday Robots", the story behind the song "Mr. Tembo" & his touring band.

The 45 year old Whitechapel born musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & producer Damon Albarn came to Last.fm to elaborate on his latest endeavour as a solo act. Best known as both the lead singer of Blur & one of the geniuses behind the virtual band Gorillaz; Albarn has popped up in countless acclaimed musical establishments like the opera Dr Dee, and supergroup The Good, The Bad & The Queen (also featuring members of The Clash & The Verve & produced by DJ Dangermouse).

Albarn has fused himself into the background of-and-so many essential corners of the contemporary musical landscape that it is hard to keep track of just how much influence he has had... regardless: it is massive. And now, Damon Albarn has recently set out once again, this time simply as himself.

Damon Albarn - "Mr. Tembo":

In our interview Damon discusses the relation of modern music production; the equivalence of how cheap it is to make a record (as well as a video), contrasting with diminishing record sales in relation to only a few years ago. He appreciates how he is now able to utilize very personal tools to create very personal art while utilizing the symphony of the sonic soundscape around him.
