I've been trying to get a stereo mic for my iPod classic since I first bought it, but there aren't any available. I want to record sound to use as concrete to accompany poetry recital.

By chance, I've just come across Luc Ferrari. And his music has made me really frustrated about my lack of recording tools. Ferrari's music, or that I've head so far, specialises in concrete music, and seems to do it very well too. I'll need to listen to it a more times to get any of the depth of the works, of course.

I've wanted to revisit Stockhausen's Licht operas for a while. I didn't like the apparently self-deifying theme of Donnerstag aus Licht when I heard it back in the late 1970s, and switched off. But, since then, I've been on an artistic journey myself that's dug from the same kind of area as Donnerstag seems to have done, and it isn't deification at all. Now I want to listen to the operas afresh and reappraise then.

Just as I was about to order the CDs, Stockhausen died.
