Hey! We haven't talked in a while. I saw recently that there is a new Rustie album as well as a TOKiMONSTA release, and I don't think either had very much praise, but I was wondering if you've heard them and if they're worth my time? The new FlyLo album leaked, and I'm savoring it because I have a feeling I'll love it even more than Until the Quiet Comes.

Thanks man! I was kinda going for a jazz-meets-shoegaze sort of vibe (also it probably won't be out this year but SOON promise)! I actually can't believe you haven't started classes yet, most universities here have been back for a month now. Those modules sound hella cool though, I know I'd definitely pick the electronic composition one! (also I googled Kashiwa Daisuke and the song that came up sounded siiiiiick) My college career is going decent I guess, unless something really weird happens I'm probably going to major in art. This semester I'm taking more art + a philosophy and econ course and a thing on the history of american popular music, so that's neat.

Thanks for the soundcloud love, brotha. Here's a sooper-secret link to the rest of the demos if you're interested, they're all fairly incomplete and still using scratch tracks + missing vocal tracks/guitar tracks/entire endings but they're there if you're interested. SO HOW THE GOSH DARN HECK IS YEAR 3 OF UNIVERSITY GOING, MISTER

Oh dude this jam is pretty cool. I forgot Lapalux was the dude who released that album with the super cool colorful artwork last year (I think last year?), I was going to listen to it but never got around to it. At least now I have something new to listen to, I've just been totally out of new music lately. Thanks for the compliments man, and yeah Yoshitaka Amano is totally god tier, probably one of my top 3 favorite artists. He's done a bunch of stuff other than Final Fantasy but his art for FF1 through 10 are probably his most famous works. I've got an artbook of his with a couple pieces from 1-4 in it and even just that is super amazing, I just found out recently that there's an English publisher that has a whole box set of nearly everything he did for all 10 games out and I'll probably try to snag that soon. Super excited to hear you like his shit, man!

Aw man, that blows. It always sucks to see a great musician in a venue with terrible sound, sorry to hear that. And that sux about Lapalux, but I'm willing to bet all the creativity you absorbed from the Lotus will last you a solid year at least! I don't really post much of my art online, but I've put a few pieces on my tumblr, although it's all mostly doodles or jokes haha (I think there's only like 1 thing on there so far that I made while at college). And yeah, the plan is for it to be out on postcallum's label Little League Records again, I'll probably have a single out on my Bandcamp before then too.

And yeah, I'm still making music. Know I've said this like 857589594 times before, but the EP will be out before my 20th birthday in December even if it means it'll be total shit. It's looking like I'll have a solid week in the beginning of August to record it all and it's just 5 tracks so we'll see.

That makes total sense, that's basically how I felt lol. Studio art is basically just making art, like charcoal drawings and paintings and pottery or whatever. Hella sick vid, btw! Glad to hear things are going great on the music front, congrats on Cashmere Cat and have fun at FlyLo!

Pretty decent! First year of college was pretty cool (although pretty tough), didn't get below a B- in any of my classes though so that's good at least. I also think I've decided on majoring in studio art, music theory was just a little too long-dead German guy-centric for me to really get into it. Anyways, how have you been? Seems like it's been forever since I heard from you, we need to get the D-Plan Crew back together this summer. #ZippyChat2014

Your stuff is great by the way! A lot of it would make great game music, actually. A little too hi-fi for my taste, but that's just me. I like crappy lo-fi shit.

Yeah, and I'll definitely look into technical things like mastering. I just realized my piano piece I uploaded is completely inaudible without really good headphones, haha. Literally everything I've made is just experimenting with phone recordings and Audacity. I know nothing technical at all.

Hey, thanks for the reply! My goal is not popularity at all. My goal for now is just experimentation and learning. I'm a primarily a visual artist, but I'm fascinated by music. It's my biggest passion, and I just wanted to document and share my first awkward steps in making my own music. Maybe over the years it will evolve into something worth sharing on a larger scale, but not now.

Yeah man, that's it, haven't learned a whole lot on it yet since I can't take it back with me to college until later this month but I love how it sounds! And I don't know if it'll lend itself well to remix, but if it turns out that's feasible I'd love to have you work some magic—right now I'm just focused on getting it done, I'll make sure to get you a copy when it's complete. And yeah, I'm still trying to plan things out as far as getting a job is concerned. But I'm not sure what the industries are like in Ohio, either. (Haha, nudge nudge.)

Honestly leaning towards either a music or art major, three of the six classes are music theory-related and another one is a drawing studio class. And awesome! Either way, I'm excited to hear the EP and track, make sure you link me up when they're out. And I haven't put anything else out since the single, Callum from the label ran off a few mini-CDs of it with some bonus tracks a few weeks ago but that's about it. I've got five songs that I'm polishing up currently and I'm like 99% sure they're just about done this time. Just need to add lyrics for 3 of them (and one of those is heavily instrumental) and get them working with guitars and such.

Whoa, sounds like fun! I think I read about the collab on Facebook, sounds like you two are perfect for each other—hope you get a label deal, dude! And I've been all right, getting back into the swing of things for my second semester. Taking a shitload of classes (like 6) and trying to figure out what direction I wanna go for my major, so that's rather exhausting. Also been trying to work on my music when I'm not working or sleeping so I can stop being the guy who says he's going to release something and then never actually does, lol.

Nice work man, it sounds great. I wasn't a big fan of the hi-hats on the first track. I really enjoyed the last track for the variation in sound. To me tracks 1, 2, and 4 all sound quite similar. Overall it's fantastic, it sounds like you've taken a lot of inspiration from Submerse.

Shit, I'm sorry, I really don't know my English geography that well, I thought you were pretty close to it. They're playing London tomorrow, Manchester the 27th, and Bristol the 29th if you want another hero-meeting opportunity. You totally haven't told me your Mount Kimbie story tho, pls elaborateee

Seriously, it blows my absolute fucking mind that you guys have to know what you want to do forever and ever when you're not even a legal adult yet (at least here in the US). From all my conversations with you and Ian on the matter... I mean, it's just mental, absolutely fucking mental. Your advice really does help, because I've been considering doing some really boring academic subjects, but my heart's not really into them. I'd rather do something I love to do, that's for sure.
