MEDIAEVAL BAEBES ANNOUNCE UK LIVE DATES FOR CHRISTMAS 2011 PLUS FREE SINGLE DOWNLOAD

The UK’s number one selling classical vocal group, Mediaeval Baebes have announced a 9 date tour of England in December 2011 which will include a show at the EM Forster Theatre in Tonbridge on Sunday December 18th.

This outing will continue the tradition of the Mediaeval Baebes’ annual Christmas tour but will see the band perform five intimate candlelit acoustic shows at some smaller churches for the first time in addition to four full band shows where they will be accompanied by additional musicians.

The acoustic shows will give the band an opportunity to showcase some of the new material they have been working on for their forthcoming album ‘The Huntress’ which focuses on the vocal strengths of the group and captures the timeless essence of the Mediaeval Baebes. ‘The Huntress’ is being produced by Musical Director Katharine Blake and due for release in Spring 2012. As a Christmas gift to fans, the band will be releasing the first single from ‘The Huntress’, ‘Veni Veni Bella’ as a free download with accompanying video in December.

Originally formed in 1996, the all female Mediaeval Baebes line up has evolved over the years and currently consists of Musical Director, Katharine Blake alongside Emily Alice Ovenden, Esther Dee, Bev Lee Harling, Sarah Kayte Foster, Clare Edmondson and Tanya Jackson. These accomplished songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and vocalists create their unique sound by drawing inspiration from medieval texts which are set to original scores with the use of both classical and medieval musical instruments, all whilst singing in an array of long forgotten languages.

Now a fully independent and self funding entity, throughout their prolific career, Mediaeval Baebes have filled castles, caves, night clubs, theatres and cathedrals world-wide and sold half a million records. Their hauntingly beautiful music has captured the imagination and devotion of music lovers throughout the world as well as consistently reaching the top of the UK classical music charts. ‘The Baebes’ contribution to the BBC production of The Virgin Queen in 2007 earned an Ivor Novello Award for Best Television Soundtrack.
