ym:stammen was a Norwegian folk/ world-music group that were active from early 1980's til the late 1990's. Their lyrics are heavily influenced by various viking myths and poetry (kvad). Bands like "Bel Canto" and the later "Gåte" share some aspects with "ym:stammen".

First EP called "Dvergmål" (dwarf tongue), later albums called: "enøyd" (one eyed), "ulv ulv" (wolf wolf) and "guden i steinen" (the god in the rock). The band also released the EP "1000 års fortielse" (a thousand years of silence) in connection to the thousand year jubilee of the Norwegian church.

Their last album had a relative commercial success partly because of the radio hit "store Alexander" (with the Norwegian electro-pop queen Bertine Zetlitz on supporting vocal), and partly because of the unusually low album price of 49,90 Norwegian Kroner (ca. 9 $).
