After playing in an R&B band in the 60s, he played in a theatrical rock band, Rubber Rhino, in the 70s; a comedy rock band, the Killer Rabbits (catch their videos on You Tube) in the 80s and a Deep Purple Tribute Band, Perfect Strangers, in the 90s. He's now with Damn Right I Got the Blues, featuring Ken Follett and Floella Benjamin.
