O cantor e compositor Wanderley Alves dos Reis, o Wando, nasceu no dia 2 de outubro de 1945 em Cajuri, Minas Gerais. Foi em Volta Redonda que o artista começou a cantar e tocar violão enquanto ganhava a vida como motorista de caminhão e feirante. Mesmo assim, arrumava tempo para compor e batalhar pelas suas gravações. Com a idéia de algum artista gravar suas canções procurou o cantor Jair Rodrigues que acabou gravando, em seu disco de 1973, o LP Com a corda toda, a música "Se Deus quiser", em parceria com Wando.
