Not a solo artist, but a band, Victor Drago were named after a cartoon detective and hailed from the Lancashire town of Rossendale. This being north-west England in the late seventies, the band trod a similar path to post-punk acts such as Joy Division, Magazine and Echo & The Bunnymen. However, they met with little success despite prestigious gigs at the Hacienda, Eric's and even the Deeply Vale festival. A collection of their recordings has recently been made available on cd and download and reveals a post-punk band leavening their gloom with a certain wit and eccentricity.
