Formed in 2007, the group consists of childhood friends singer/guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse, drummer Jarad Dawkins, and Alec Atkins (bass, 2013-present). In 2014, Unlocking the Truth signed a $1.8 million contract for five albums with Sony Music Entertainment. As the members were still minors at the time, the contract had to be approved through the New York Supreme Court.
