Released in July of 1991, Into the Great Wide Open is the eighth studio album by American rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The album reached #13 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and #3 on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified double platinum for sales in excess of two million units in the United States. Five singles were released from the album. "Learning to Fly" and "Out in the Cold" reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Album Rock Tracks.
