THE PLOCTONES were founded in 2001 by Dutch guitarist Anton Goudsmit under the name "GOUDSMIT, TRUJILLO, VIERDAG & VINK" to perform a series of his compositions commissioned by Dutch NPS Radio. In 2004 former VPRO radio producer Rene de Rooij organised a live cd recording at the Jazz op het Dak festival, an event directed by De Rooij and featured on VPRO radio and television.
