The Fret are an alternative and independent band from the Leeds DIY scene in Northern England and have been making music since 1999. Not a band for feeling the need to adapt to suit a popular style, The Fret consciously change songwriting styles for each track, each band member contributing their own personality while retaining the overall message. John Butler was there at the very beginning on lead vocals and lead guitar. Rik Stewart (ex-Cakey Face/ Unseen Flame) joined the band in August 2007 on bass.
