Randolf Widebath, 4th Earl of Bandwidth, succeeded his father, F. Dorlan Widebath, the 3rd Earl, in the earldom in 1985. Educated at the École Normale, and though correspondence courses in computer repair from the Stratford Career Institute, he took his seat in the House of Lords in 1989 as a follower of the Duke of Hamwidth. In 1994 he was sent as recording secretary to the congress at Breda, and he continued to record raw sound data there until the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle was concluded in 1996.
