The Dedication Orchestra realized the goal of its organizers, Evan Parker and Steve Beresford, noted British jazz artists, to pay homage to the landmark South African ex-pat ensemble, The Blue Notes. The members of the band, who retranscribed and arranged the scores of the Blue Notes were the cream of British Jazz, including Keith Tippett, Kenny Wheeler, and Elton Dean. The last surviving original Blue Note, Louis Moholo, played drums on the groups two albums, Spirits Rejoice and Ixesha.
