Ippei Tatsuyama and Akira Emoto met 20 years ago while they were students at Tokyo Bukkyo Gakuin, a college for those aspiring to become head priests in the Jōdo Shinshū sect of Buddhism located in the Tsukiji Hongan-ji temple.
