Sunshine is a 2007 British science fiction film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. The film, set in 2057, follows the crew of a spacecraft equipped with a payload to re-ignite our dying Sun, which threatens Earth. Danny Boyle provided the film to the band Underworld, who improvised a score for the film. Karl Hyde of Underworld was influenced by the music of avant garde composer György Ligeti, which had been used in Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).
