Summer West is a funk/pop band from Utrecht, The Netherlands. The band consists of Rick Franssens on lead vocals and guitar, Simon van Ipenburg on bass guitar, Guido Hamerling on keys and Pjotr van Rijn on drums. The band formed in early 2009, when Rick Franssens and Guido Hamerling met in a pub in their hometown, Wijk bij Duurstede. With a shared passion for funky music they decided to start writing music together. Simon Ipenburg (bass guitar) and Pjotr van Rijn (drums) joined the band soon afterwards, completing the band.
