Striving to Comprehend formed in 2002 in Mankato, MN. The band originally consisted of Elisabeth Goebel (vocals/guitar/keys), Katherine Lindberg (vocals/guitar/bass), and Kathryn Dutler (bass). Kate Dutler only attended one practice session and never really played with the band. In 2003, they found their drummer, Annie Burkhart (drums/keys). In late-2004, the trio added Laura Larson-Cody (bass) to the group.
