Spon (real name: Marc Irvin) started rapping as a fifth-grader at Miles Elementary, but now he’s going worldwide. With the help of MySpace and SendSpace, the Tampa rapper has pulled together beats and production from artists all over the world. His 14-track Soul Official LP was a collaboration with French sampler Amel Dabee and Japanese beatmaker Dopestman K.A.I. With a style that relies on trippy beats and throwback samples, Spon also has released a solo album, a group album and is working on the double-disc BeatFanatic Vol. 1 and 2 coming out in late 2009.
